Silverlight?

Sometimes I don't get Microsoft. Usually, when MS is working on a new product, it assigns a codename to it. For instance, Vista's codename was "Longhorn." The next version of Visual Studio 2005 is called Orcas. At some point, the final name for the product is determined and the codename is dropped.

Well, I thought they had finalized the names for all the new technologies coming out in .NET 3.5.  They had codenames, then they were changed.  Avalon became Windows Presentation Foundation, for example.  All of the other names followed the same corporate-type naming convention-- Windows X Foundation (insert Workflow, Presentation, Communication, etal).

So now it comes out that WPF/E, Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere, is now called Silverlight.  Silverlight?  Eh.  I actually was getting used to all the W[X]F's.  If you knew a little bit about 3.5, you could figure out WPF/E.  But Silverlight?  Its not even that cool sounding a name.  Longhorn sounds cool.  Vista sounds gay.  Silverlight?  Eeeh.

How about instead of Silverlight we call it Silver Surfer?  That's definitely a cooler name.  Or Silver Bullet?  Or Long Dong Silverlight.  Something.  The name choice just doesn't strike me as all that good.  Ironically, too, silverlight.com is a Mac fanboy's website.
