So, apparently the EU is sick of people's freedom to be assholes and is seriously mulling over banning "hate speech" on the intarwebs. Well, its been fun knowing all of you.
Why do people insist on giving money and power to governments? For those of you who don't know, this is how governments work (its called the Politician's fallacy):
- There is a problem
- Somebody should do something
- We are somebody
- We should do something
"Oh, look! The internets are full of tough guys! They say mean things about gays, breeders, minorities, majorities, semites, anti-semites, semi-semites, children, the old, the stupid, the too-smart, people we like, Belgians, etc, etc. We must Do Something™!" Thus "hate speech" becomes something somebody should do something about, and governments become that somebody.
Everything eventually comes under the purview of governments this way. Unless you don't give them unlimited power and money to them. Hmmm, where have I heard that before?
But, as the european people are fast becoming cattle on the politician's farm, they are well on their way to serfdom. Is it not surprising that the islamic fascists see this weakness as an opportunity to gain power?

My favorite programming blarg
ger, Jeff Atwood, was on the last .NET Rocks show. He's a hella nerd and looks just about what you'd expect a programming geek to look like*.
Sorry, Jeff, just bustin' on you a little. The guy is one of the best writers about software today, in my opinion. He posts about six times a week and each and every one of them is gold. He's definitely one of the reasons why I started this blarg ; if I ever get past all the childish glee of calling somebody a "fucknut" on the internets I might actually put that inspiration to use.
Anyhow, if you have any interest in programming, get the show and have a listen. Here's the linkage:

I have a single family home located in West Columbia, SC. Not too long ago, sewage treatment for my area (the Springdale area) was handed over to the City of Cayce, a shitty low-rent ugly little bit of the generally beautiful Columbia metropolitan area.
This asshole, if you will, of the area then began to have UNCONSENTUAL SEX WITH ME IN MY RECTUM. WITHOUT LUBE. Every month they pull up infront of my house in their beat up piece of shit 15-year-old F150 with a poor man's version of a monster truck suspension (wood blocks under the leaf springs) and proceed to FUCK ME OUT OF 37.69 a FUCKING MONTH. Yeah, that little 69c was a nice touch. You fucking rapists.
Just read an article over at The Old New Thing about the Decoy Effect. Very interesting. By adding a third choice, you can skew opinion towards one of two legitimate choices.
You are asked to choose between A and B. 50% of people pick A, 50% pick B. If you want to push people towards A, you can easily do this by adding a third choice C that is not as good as A or B. Just make sure that choice A is better than C in more respects than B is. People use choice C as the benchmark; they see that A is twice as better than C than B and therefore pick A more often.
Keep an eye out for this kind of gaming in real life. If I find any I'll post 'em here.
If I said that Carlos Latuff should be dragged from his home and set alight, and those flames be fanned until they extinguished his poor excuse of a life? Is it?
So, just saw Grindhouse yesterday. Was gonna build up to an amazing review with tons of screenshots and clips and all kinda stuff, then hit ya with a "Reel Missing" message below the fold. Since I can't find one, I'll have to write a substantially abbreviated and less multimediated review.
In response to the criminal activity reported here, and in an attempt to combat hate crime in our country... nay, in our world, I introduce the Hate Crime imagelet:
Now, when ever you feel yourself about to commit a hate crime (or thought crime or sex crime) by posting, you can tag the post as such. That will make it easy for me (or the state or the UN) to come after you and erase your post. Its super plus fun!
